April 19, 2007 - The Tacoma-Pierce County Sports Commission (TPCSC) is proud to announce that the National Association of Sports Commissions (NASC) has selected TacomaSports.org for the 2007 Outstanding Website Award for a Sports Commission under a $200,000 Budget. The announcement was made official Thursday, April 19, 2007 at the NASC’s annual symposium in Dallas, Texas.

The NASC is the sports event industry's leading networking organization. They represent over 400 organizations within the sports event travel industry. Judging was based on the following criteria: creativity, effectiveness of web site in marketing objectives, ease of navigation and use of interactivity (online registration, access to facility guide, event information, etc.) The judging panel was comprised of industry peers such as Sports Commissions and Convention and Visitor Bureaus.

The TPCSC Executive Director, Tim Waer, was at the awards banquet to accept the award from Dallas Cowboys All-Pro Wide Receiver, Drew Pearson. Other Sports Commissions considered for the award were the Utah Sports Commission, Columbus Sports Commission, Kentucky Sports Authority, and the Miami-Dade Sports Commission.

Waer explained “it is great to be recognized nationally for something that we have worked very hard on in the last few years. We are proud that TacomaSports.org was developed in-house by TPCSC Staff.  This award certainly helps market Tacoma-Pierce County’s clubs, venues and communities to a national audience.”
