The Sports Commission's Amateur Athletic Fund (AAF) is a tax-exempt fund (under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code) dedicated to assisting individuals or organizations in attracting major amateur sporting events to the Tacoma-Pierce County community. The AAF was established through the generous support of The Ben B. Cheney Foundation.

AAF grant requests are reviewed during the first month of each quarter by the Sports Commission's Advisory Board. Individuals or organizations who submit requests deemed relevant to the TPCSC Mission Statement will be given priority. Grants will not be provided for the purpose of covering expenses such as tournament entry fees, travel, uniforms, equipment, or coaches salaries.
